About

The Snowchange Archive of Northern Traditions is a comprehensive collection of local and traditional knowledge and practices, photographs, videos, and audio material.

All materials have been collected using the principles of free, prior and informed consent. The specific materials are co-owned by the participating villages, peoples and families. They retain full ownership of the materials but agree to have them shared here. For the last nearly 20 years, Snowchange Cooperative has been working with Inidgenous and traditional communities in the Arctic and the boreal.

Tero Mustonen from Snowchange says: "The Snowchange Archive allows us to access stories and knowledge from other communities around the world to see how they are addressing the changes under way and find solutions. We also wish to preserve a visual tradition of the powerful ways of life in the North. Often visual story-telling is a natural method for many traditional and Indigenous socities."
